Here are some statistics about hypnobirthing:

  • Birth experience

Hypnobirthing can lead to a more positive birth experience:

    • Calmness: 76% of hypnobirthing mothers reported feeling calm, compared to 46% of non-hypnobirthing mothers.

    • Pain relief: Hypnobirthing mothers need less pain relief.

    • Mental health: Non-hypnobirthing mothers are more likely to experience mental health issues.

  • C-sections

Hypnobirthing can reduce the need for a C-section:

    • KG Hypnobirthing: Hypnobirthing mothers are almost 50% less likely to need a C-section.

    • Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals NHS Trust: Only 4% of hypnobirthing births ended with an emergency C-section, compared to 15% for the general population.

  • Labor length

    Hypnobirthing can shorten labor:

    • Jenkins and Pritchard: First-time mothers who used hypnobirthing had an average labor of 6.4 hours, compared to 9.3 hours for non-hypnobirthing mothers.

  • Hospital stay

Hypnobirthing mothers may stay in the hospital for fewer days:

    • Cochrane review: Hypnobirthing mothers may spend fewer days in the hospital, but only if they attended four or more classes in the first or second trimesters.
